A man in Detroit was so upset when he found bed bugs crawling on his body that he sprayed himself with alcohol. He then lit a cigarette and tried to burn one of the bed bugs. The cigarette ignited the alcohol and his body and couch went up in flames.
The accidental fire, which started at about 4:30 am on Sunday, destroyed four apartment units and twenty more received water damage.
The man who started the fire managed to escape, but was severely burned. He was taken to a hospital where he is still recovering.
Ladies and gentlemen, if you have a problem with bed bugs, using alcohol and setting them on fire is not the answer. Bed bugs are by far and away the toughest pests to control and when these pests attack, you need to call a professional.
