“We’ll Get Rid Of All Your Termites Or Your Treatment is Free!”
Subterranean termites can be a “big pain in your backside”. These pest live underground and usually work in parts of the structure where we can’t see them. May I make a small confession?
“A lot of the time, we are literally working blind when we do these treatments. We kind of know where they’re at and if we point our “squirt gun” in the right direction, we might hit something”.
How can you eliminate some of the guess work and have better odds of eliminating your problems with these pest? And the answer is; THOROUGH INSPECTIONS!
Termite Terry’s Subterranean Termite Treatments Are 2nd to None!
I’ve heard of guys that can drive by your home at thirty miles per hour and perform an inspection without even getting out of their car. Sorry, but I can’t do that. I usually have to get down on my hands and knees to look under cabinets, crawl under the house if you have a raised foundation and it may take me a while to figure out what’s causing your problem. And, until I find a better way, that’s how I’m going to keep doing my job.
When you have a problem with subterranean termites, we have to find out where they are coming from. It’s also important to find out what is attracting them to those areas. We could do the best treatment in the “whole wide world”, but if those conditions that attracted the termites there in the first place are not corrected, you may never get rid of your termite problem!
Moisture is a big attraction for subterranean termites. If you have plumbing leaks, roof leaks, leaky windows, etc., you’ve got to fix them first! Sure, you can spray stuff all over and maybe they won’t come back from that same hole in the ground. But, these termites are smart and I’ve seen where they just come around the house from another place and go right back to eating and drinking in that same area of the house where you have the moisture problem! That’s why I say, “Fix the moisture problem first, treat the areas as needed and your problems may be over in that area forever!”
During inspections, I also look for other conditions that are conducive to subterranean termite infestations. Those conditions would include wood members that are in direct contact with the soil, cellulose debris/scrap wood left laying on the ground and faulty grade conditions. You don’t want to waste your money – These conditions need to be corrected before we do our treatments.
Once we’ve figured out what is causing the problem and where the termites are coming from, it’s time to do our treatment. If your home has a raised foundation and we see subterranean termites building mud tunnels up the foundation walls, our materials will be injected into those adjacent earth areas. Maybe you have subterranean termites tunneling up your garage walls. In that case, we would drill holes through the concrete slab and inject our materials through those holes and into the soil below.
When treating subterranean termites, we only use Termidor. This new product is “stealth like”. Termites don’t even know we’ve used this product because they can’t see it, they can’t smell it and they can’t taste it! The best part is the “transfer effect”. Once they’ve been exposed to Termidor, they take it back and share it with the others in the nest. And, it keeps getting spread around until the whole nest is wiped out.
How extensive a treatment will you need? Will the whole house need to be treated or will a small area be sufficient? The only way we will know the answer to that is by performing a thorough inspection.
