A Chinese woman in Shunde, south China’s Guangdong province, was robbed of her savings worth $65,000 by an unusual gang of thieves – termites!
Her children had given her the money six months ago, but instead of putting it into a bank, she simply put the money into plastic bags which she kept in a wooden drawer on the floor of her home.
She had no idea the robbery had occurred until she opened the drawer to get money out so she could pay her home decorator. All she found left in the drawer was a pile of debris that was stuck together by termite mucus.
Fortunately, she took what was left of the money to the bank. After a day’s work, the bank staff was able to identify about $55,000 in bills. The remaining debris could not be identified and the elderly woman wound up losing about $10,000.
What’s the moral of this story? It’s probably not a good idea to keep that much money at home. A bank is usually a much safer place. But, if you really insist on keeping your savings at home, you really need to call Termite Terry Pest Control and have your home inspected for termites, FIRST!
